PETER GRAY
Peter Gray was the founding Principal of Graymatters in 2006 and Cactus Architects in 2013.
He commenced his career in an Adelaide and Melbourne based practice from 1975 to 1991, holding the position of Managing Partner from 1987, and then co-founded the well-known national practice, Gray Puksand in 1991, retiring from that practice in 2008.
Peter is a Registered Architect with over 45 years of professional experience in the design and construction professions. He has worked as an Architect, Builder, Client Representative, Property Developer, Superintendent, Mediator and Expert Witness. He has held positions on advisory boards and committees of a broad range of organisations.
He served as a VCAT Member and qualified Mediator from 2008 until 2020. He has conducted small private property developments in parallel with his management and architectural services.
Peter’s experience covers most project types through his career. The diversity of his experience makes him adaptable to most typologies.
Peter has provided advice to legal firms as an expert witness in disputes involving architects, construction failures including combustible facades, and professional negligence.
In January 2023, Peter made a considered decision to scale back Cactus Architects, to focus on the Graymatters part of his business, working as a sole practitioner. The mainstay of the business is to provide advice on Property and Construction Matters, Project Management and Superintendent Services, and expert reports.
